CITY OF DE SOTO
FALL CLEAN UP

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018

The Clean Up is to assist city residents who wish to discard items that are not eligible to be picked up with their regular trash. There will be no additional charge to residents for the clean-up.

IMPORTANT! Items are to be set out at the same location as weekly refuse. Items are to be set out no later than 6:00 a.m. on Saturday October 6th. Residents are encouraged to set out debris the Friday EVENING before the clean-up day BUT NOT BEFORE!

If material is set out neatly on the proper date and time, it will be removed.
There will be no callbacks!

WHAT ITEMS WILL BE PICKED UP?
Bulk items; TV’s, bikes, swing sets, furniture, small automotive parts, windows, home remodeling debris (must be neatly stacked), all types of wood (wood boards must have nails removed, not more than 4 foot in length and must be neatly stacked), metal drums (must have the tops and bottoms cut off). Empty paint cans, with lid off. (If paint cans still contain paint, put cat litter or floor dry in the can to absorb paint; when paint is totally absorbed, set container out for pick-up). Basically, any non-hazardous waste that fits into a refuse packer truck will be collected.

WHAT ITEMS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP?
Bricks, concrete, dirt, stone, railroad ties longer than 4 ft. in length, hazardous or chemical wastes, paint, motor oil, automotive batteries, engines, transmissions or rear-ends, tires, household trash, yard waste and items that will not fit into a packer truck body.

White goods (Major Household Appliances) will not be picked up unless they are scheduled (call 636-243-6022) and prepaid with Waste Management. The pickup fee is $35.00 per item. Refrigerators and air conditioners must have Freon removed and be tagged by a certified heating & cooling company. It is also recommended that the refrigerator doors be removed and placed along the side of the refrigerator.

If you have any questions regarding whether an item is acceptable, please contact Waste Management at 636-243-6022.
